Celebrating

My husband tells me that we have to celebrate the big events in our lives. We don't do that very often and I believe he's right about the importance of those events. In the absence of those celebrations, the negative events seem to overshadow our lives.

Today, I'm celebrating an award. I was named the 2006 receipient of the Outstanding Secondary Post Baccalaureate Student Award for the Department of Teacher Education and Administration for the University of North Texas. WOW! This came as a huge shock, as I didn't know such an award existed. As they say at the Oscar's, "It's just an honor to be nominated". There are a tremendous number of great students in our program. I'm really excited to celebrate this milestone in my life.

Enough of that.... the really big news to celebrate is the fact that I am one final exam away from receiving my Masters in Education. Having done all the calculations, just as I'm sure my students have done, I know I have a B in that class if I do nothing else. However, that would tarnish my 4.0 GPA, so I'll be studying for this test. It's an obvious internal motivation.
